30 Hour Famine
2008! $2,971.77 Raised to fight world hunger!
As the participants for this years 30 Hour
Famine gathered in the social room, hunger was starting to be felt. Everybody was eager for the 30 hours ahead, even the adults,
of which there were many.
As the night went on, many fun and eye-opening activities were experienced. We chose tribe leaders,
we learned about the trouble in finding water, and our eyes were opened to the troubles of gathering food in a field full of explosives
left behind from the constant fighting that occurs throughout the African villages. During all these activities, we always had
the constant feeling of hunger.
On Saturday, we started the day off with a bible study. After that, we enjoyed some free time
to relax or watch Praise Band rehearse. Then we drove over to meet with another church to collect canned food.
After a successful
canned food drive, we returned to the church to get ready for the service before dinner. Finally the time came for the service,
and we all knew what that meant. Dinner was only a half hour away!
As usual, our breaking the fast meal was wonderful. Thanks to everybody who helped with the spaghetti dinner and everything else that went into organizing it!
Also, we would like to thank
the congregation for your awesome support behind this worthwhile cause. We couldn’t have done it without you!
