Adult Learning

Adult Learning Mission Statement:

Empower St. Andrew’s membed friends by adult Christian learning and growth through Bible study, prayer, and fellowship in small group and other learning environments.

Opportunities to Learn, Share, Grow!
Scarves for the Homeless
I’d like to start a knitting group that meets monthly to knit scarves for a homeless shelter in a major
US city like Detroit or Chicago. These cities are brutally cold in the winter, and our home-made gifts
of time and love could greatly benefit them. Folks interested in this ministry could work
on their scarves individually, then meet once a month to work as a group, pray over the
scarves, and share a simple meal. Could we challenge ourselves to knit 70 scarves in a
year?! I think we can! Everyone is welcome. Even if you don’t knit, we invite you
to join us, pray for the homeless, and support this ministry. We’ll also teach you how to
knit if you’d like to learn! Meeting times and places would be flexible and decided
upon by the group. (Please see Lynn Cushing.)
College Kid Ministry
Here is an opportunity to reach out to our college youth. Although college years are
typically exciting and fun, they can also be lonely, as youth experience adjustments,
trials and challenges in a new way of living, often away from home for the first time.
Supporting a college student could be as simple as sending an occasional card, letter, or
email expressing support and love as a brother or sister in Christ. College students
also love gift cards (from Wal-Mart, Target, etc.). With the help of others parishioners,
you could also assemble simple but appreciated “Care Packages” on behalf of the congregation.
College kid addresses are available through the church office.
Please see Becky Snyder or Lynn Cushing if you are interested in either one of these
ministries to serve our Lord!
“PORCH LIGHT TO CHRIST”
Join your St. Andrew’s friends this summer as our Porch Light
to Christ series resumes! Beginning June 23, we’ll meet in different
homes each Wednesday evening at 6:30. This is a wonderful opportunity to
grow in faith in a relaxing and informal way as we explore faith topics and share God’s
powerful presence in our lives. Please consider offering your back porch, kitchen table
or lawn for a Porch Light gathering. There’s always a lovely assortment of desserts to
share! Please see or email Becky Snyder

“Early Church Development in South Bethlehem” Chris Carson will present a
view of how churches developed in historic Bethlehem. Chris holds a Master’s degree in
Historic Preservation and has been involved in preservation of the Blacksmith Shop.
Chris is the son-in law of Joe Fassl and continues to be involved with architecture in
Bethlehem. I should be an interesting look at this portion of local history.
*St. Andrew’s Men is open to all men, both members and friends of St. Andrew’s.
